LA Concept Fashion Week 2010

This is definitely way past due but I saw the photos on my computer at work and thought I'd share. My partner Jess and I got invited to a few fashion shows for Spring/Summer LA Fashion Week.  We got some amazing inspiration and made some even more amazing contacts!

Michelle M, one of our friends on the cover of Kucoon's lookbook, also opened and closed the show.

Installations throughout the venue brought to us by various designers.
One of our favorite Mike Vensel pieces.

My Grandma... My Inspiration

Through the years my grandmother has become more and more of an inspiration to me as I've gotten older and more into the fashion industry.  When my grandmother finished high school she studied fashion design which is what I got my degree in.  She had her own line of jewelry, painted in her spare time, modeled, and was even one of the original Columbia Pictures (lady that holds the torch at the beginning of movies) logo.  She was Miss. Los Angeles County in the Miss. America pageant in 1947.  "1947 was the first time that the Miss. America contestants wore two-piece swimsuits in competition"(http://www.missamerica.org/our-miss-americas/1940/review.aspx).

To me, my grandmother is iconic.  Her sense of style is and always has been impeccable and timeless.   My hats off to you Grandma.  I love you and you continue to inspire me each and every day.

In Love With Millinery

For as long as I can remember I've been obsessed with hats of all shapes and sizes.  For those of you who know me really well, know how big my hat closet is and how I die over a new vintage hat.  Just discovered Piers Atkinson and he totally sparked my reoccurring interest of being a  milliner.  I totally want my own millinery business one day, along with the 10 other companies I want. But hey, it's good to have goals. ;) Here are some of my favorite hats and also some of the wildest.  I think Lady Gaga would be proud.
