Sheer And Tulle: Marchesa's Fall 2011 Collection

Aaaa-mazing! So in love with Marchesa's Fall 2011 I could die! Look for her Fall 2011 runway show on Wednesday.  Enjoy...

"Inspiration can strike at any time, and this season it hit Georgina Chapman while she was watching late-night television—specifically, David Lean’s 1946 film adaptation of Great Expectations. She was moved by the disintegrating elegance of Miss Havisham, so Chapman and partner Keren Craig based their fall Marchesa collection on the character. “We liked the idea of the opulence she once had and her deconstructed, romantic nature,” Chapman said, adding with a laugh, “and [she’s] also a little bit mad.”
The gowns the designers will be showing on Wednesday will be artfully frayed at the seams, and Craig and Chapman are also exploring the idea of veils—not so much covering the face, but as a light layer of tulle over a bodice. Because this is Marchesa, there will always be some sparkle, but the crystals this season have been dulled with powder. “We love the idea of the dusty bride who sat in her dress forever,” said Craig."
